BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment is a revolutionary approach to reversing the affects of facial wrinkles. Crows feet, worry lines and laugh lines can all be a thing of the past. These are referred to as dynamic wrinkle lines and all are treatable with this procedure. Cosmetic denervation is the process of injecting BOTOX® Cosmetic into the tiny facial muscles that create the wrinkles.
The facial muscles are constantly in motion when smiling, laughing, frowning and arching your eyebrows in amazement, amusement, bewilderment or empathy. All of these muscle movements which we are rarely aware of and perform hundreds of times during the course of a day inevitably produce facial lines. Some, like frown lines, can make you look more tense, worried and angry than you really are. But other expression lines are charming. They add character and animation to your face and define who you are. BOTOX® Cosmetic, when appropriately placed in the right dose will soften the facial lines which make us look old, tired and worried without taking away our character lines.
Before Injection
Prior to BOTOX® Cosmetic injections, we will evaluate your medical history in order to better understand your overall health. In addition, a complete examination of your eyes is made in order to decide the most effective injection sites. All issues and concerns will be discussed. The BOTOX® Cosmetic Procedure
BOTOX® Cosmetic Injections are performed with topical anesthesia by Dr. Spanganberg, making injections less uncomfortable. The effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic last 3-4 months. For best results, injections should be repeated several times per year. Research has suggested that long-term use of the injections leads to a longer duration of each treatments’ effect. Patients over the age of 65 may not experience as dramatic of results. BOTOX® Cosmetic is only useful in treating expression lines and cannot be used to repair sagging skin caused by aging.
Post Injection Information
After the injection, patients may experience slight bruising around the area that quickly fades. Normal activities can be performed immediately. Side effects are rare but the most common is headache, which lasts for a short period of time. BOTOX® Cosmetic is completely reversible, so any side effect is a temporary condition. Dr. Spanganberg and his staff will explain all risks associated at the time of your consultation.
