Restylane®, Juvéderm™ and Perlane® each have unique properties and specific areas where they produce the best results; and are all available in our office. In order to perform these surgical procedures with the highest quality and safety, Dr. Spanganberg will conduct a consultation, during which he will discuss your treatment objectives and help decide which filler will best suit your needs.
Restylane® - Provides instant and long-lasting wrinkle correction. It is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler which restores volume and fullness to skin. This multi-use product line corrects fine to moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds of all types, from the fine lines around the lips to deep nasolabial folds. Restylane's sister filler, Perlane, is an ideal mid-level dermal filler.
Before and After Restylane®
A highly versatile filler, Restylane is also used to increase fullness and enhance the lips, define the lip line, fill scars and plump up facial areas that have lost their youthful appearance. One common “trouble area” for many patients is the area under the eyes that becomes hollow, creating a worn-out, tired look. Restylane or other dermal injection products may be a viable solution.
Because Restylane is made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid and is fully and safely biocompatible, allergy testing is not required.
Juvéderm™ is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Dr. Spanganberg eases the injectable gel under the skin to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth).
Juvéderm™ provides a smooth, natural look and feel. The injection process takes only about 15 minutes and results are immediate. Plus, there's minimal recovery or downtime. Juvéderm™ has been FDA approved to last up to 12 months.
Before & After Juvéderm™
Perlane® -Recently approved by the FDA, Perlaneis a "mid-dermal" hyaluronic acid filler product. As a sister product to Restylane, Perlane is designed for more pronounced facial folds and wrinkles such as those on the sides of the mouth.
Both Perlane and Restylane are composed of hyaluronic acid. The primary difference between Restylane and Perlane is that the hyaluronic acid gel particles in Perlane are larger than those found in Restylane. This gives Perlane additional ability to lift and fill the areas of injection that require a denser formulation. Perlane and Restylane are perfect complements to one another.
Perlane is injected into the deep dermis to superficial layer of the subcutis to add volume to restore surface contour in facial wrinkles and folds. Perlane corrections maintain volume augmentation for about six months before natural product degradation begins to lessen the effects.
Perlane® is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the body. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® is a crystal clear gel that is chemically cross-linked (the long chemical strands are tied together) to delay breakdown by skin enzymes. Perlane® is non-animal-based and free from animal protein. This quality prevents disease transmission. Allergy pre-testing is not necessary. Also distinct from other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, Restylane and Perlane are minimally cross-linked, making them similar to the natural hyaluronic acid found in the body.
Sculptra - is a safe, synthetic, and biocompatible material that is injected below the surface of the skin to correct the effects of fat loss and natural age-related bone loss. Sculptra™ is an injectable volumizing treatment that stimulates the build up of the body’s own collagen to smooth out lines and wrinkles and restore lost facial volume to give you a fuller, younger-looking face. Sunken cheeks, temple indentations, and hollows under the eyes regain lost volume over time by Sculptra's ability to promote production of your body's natural collagen in the treated areas. This process of natural-restructure of the skin continues long after the course of treatment has been completed.
Sculptra provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. Volume effects have persisted in numerous patients for over 3 years.
More than 150,000 people in over 30 countries worldwide have been treated with Sculptra.(2005 Data)
Sculptra has been used since 1999 under the trade name New-Fill in Europe for a variety of facial volume and contour deficiencies. It was approved in Europe to increase the volume of depressed areas, particularly for the correction of skin depression, including skin creases, wrinkles, folds, scars, and eye rings. In 2004, the product was approved in the United States for large-volume corrections of the signs of lipoatrophy (facial fat loss).
Because the main component in Sculptra, poly-L-lactic acid, is a polymer synthetically derived from natural components and is a biocompatible substance (does not harm the body), there is no need to test for allergic reactions. Poly-lactic acid has been used in surgical products for more than 20 years.
Sculptra is the "patient" patient's ideal restoration procedure. Since it takes time for your body to manufacture new collagen, the results will not be instant and usually require 3-6 appointments. But patience has rewards because the new volume is that of your own tissue. Sculptra injections can be more globally injected in the face, thereby providing even, soft, natural collagen layers that "age with you."
