Dr. Peter Spanganberg was born and raised in upstate New York. He attended Brigham Young University where he received a BS in Zoology. During his undergraduate studies, he elected to spend two years in Northern Italy where he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Dr. Spanganberg attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and received numerous honors and awards.
Dr. Spanganberg completed his residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Highland Hospital/Pacific University, where he received extensive training in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Highland hospital is a major urban trauma center serving Oakland, CA and the surrounding Alameda County; and as such, sees a high volume of facial injuries secondary to interpersonal violence, automobile accidents and workplace injuries. As part of his training, Dr. Spanganberg also spent a year training at Kaiser Permanente where his focus was on orthognathic (jaw) surgery, craniofacial anomolies, and treatment of Temporomandibular Joint pathology (TMJ).
Dr. Spanganberg has committed himself to the pursuit of excellence, and is constantly searching for opportunities to expand and refine his knowledge base and surgical skills.
He is active in both community and church activities. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and being outdoors.
